We had a get turn out and raised the most money we ever have. We raised a little over $2,300 for The American Cancr Society. We appreciate all of the support and look forward to planning the 5th Annual All for Nana Tea Party.
Due to the April 27, 2011 tornado, we had to postpone this year's original tea party. We are happy to say we will now be hosting the "All for Nana" Charity Tea Party on August 13, 2011. The Tea Party wil start at 11:30 and end at 1:30. It will be held at Valley Creek Baptist Church in Hueytown, AL. The cost for attending is a minimum donation of $25 made payable to the American Cancer Society. I have been reassured that the donations made from our event will be used locally. The Valley Creek Baptist Praise band will once again be performing. Chicken and Rice along with Olive Garden salad and breadsticks will be served for lunch. An assortment of pies from Uncle Sam's will be served as dessert. We already have several great door prizes awaiting to be awarded, along with a chance to win one of several outdoor "adventures." We look forward to seeing everyone there!!!
The memories Maddie Mae has of the tea parties she used to have with her Pa and Nana is the inspiration behind our charity event. They would dress up in their fancy clothes and sip on their tea as they ate their "tea cake" cookies. Maddie wanted to have a tea party for all of her cousins, family, and friends. She just wouldn't stop asking. As I sat with her and discussed getting one together, she cried because she wished her Nana could come. She missed her Nana. I asked her if she wanted to try to raise money for cancer so that we could do our part to help stop someone else from losing their Nana. She started smiling and said "YES!" So that is how the "All for Nana Charity Tea Party" was created. Since Nana's birthday was April 28, we decided April would be the perfect month. We all miss our precious Nana and we hope that this annual tea party will be a yearly celebration of the love and legacy she left for us all.
